A Few Words on Getting Help...

Nearly half of all Australians will experience a mental health problem, such as depression or anxiety, at some point in their lives. This means, statistically speaking, having a mental health problem is very common. A research study of clinical psychologists found two-thirds of participants had experienced mental health problems. This makes sense to me. Of course you are interested in studying and practicing psychology if you have been personally touched by it. And that can be a real advantage in helping clients.

However, honours can be hard. Clinical training can be hard. For these reasons, I believe one of the most important things you can do in becoming a psychologist - whatever stage you are at - is to seek help from a professional when you need it. One of the great benefits of becoming a psychologist is that you get to know yourself better.  As part of that journey, it is so important to learn what parts of clinical training may be triggering or difficult for you, personally, and to get as much support as you need to develop effective skills for coping with the challenges of clinical training and practice.
